  • The only way you'll be happy is when you grow, progress, improve.

  • Our voice is what gives life to technology

  • LCD - Loyalty, Committment, Dedication

  • I become + I believe + I am!

  • Your voice is not just a gift, it's a choice

  • If you feel something's wrong about your recording or work, correct it.

  • Great leadership is setting by example.

  • N.O.W. = No Opportunities Wasted

  • If you OWN the NOW (No Other Way), you've already WON.

  • In CreatiVoices Productions, we have the opportunity to do what we do best everyday.

  • The best director is yourself.

  • When you do voice over/voice acting/singing, you have to give your heart and soul to give it life.

  • Hangaan mo yung future self mo, kase mas magaling yan sa iyo.

New Program: Project Voice Barter

  • We will barter our voice for others

  • Gives you value for experience

Module 5: Practice, practice, practice!

  • Now that you have started atteding a course, does the learning stop here?

  • Of course not, it's just the beginning.

  • You have to read aloud, so you can use the elements of your voice & apply the formula you learned last session.

  • You need to PRACTICE.

  • More importantly, you need to TALK.

  • Before you do something, you do 5 actions: you think about it, you talk about it, you wrote it down, and you shared it.

So how do you practice?

Record yourself. - to remove shyness, para mawala yung hiya mo.

    • You need to get used to how you sound in a recording

    • Our voices differ from how we hear it, to how others actually hear it.

    • Look back at your recordings so far, and give yourself some feedback.

    • Did you like it? Did you not like it?

    • How could you have made it better?

    • What is your goal when delivering a script?

      • Sometimes it is lower than your standard..

      • The technique is to make your standard HIGHER than your GOAL so that you will always HIT YOUR STANDARD

Tongue Twisters

    • We have been made to say tongue twisters in school.

    • This is actually a good training ground to speak better

    • Why should we do tongue twisters?

      • It improves your pronunciation

      • Your tongue is challenged with hard-to-pronounce syllables, which you have to enunciate properly and clearly.

      • Your voice should be "countryless" -- your voice should be neutral, no accent

      • You cannot change what is written in the script, no matter how badly written it is.

      • Your job as VO is to do the script, not to correct a badly written script.

      • It is part of your job to read the script properly and clearly, no matter what.

    • Teaches us presence of mind

      • Most tongue twisters would have a different meaning if you don't pronounce it properly.

      • That's why you have to really focus in pronouncing every word.

      • You have to syllabicate Tagalog words

      • The same goes with voice acting

      • We use high-quality equipment, from the mic to the speakers

Read sample scripts

    • If you're a serious voice artist, you should get used to reading sample scripts even if there's no audition or recording

    • Practice reading different kinds of scripts so you would know how to approach each one

    • For example, in some commercials, a voiceover needs a calmer voice

    • One good way to practice is to mimic the commercials that you see or hear everyday

    • You can also record yourself reading your own script

    • You can then upload your recordings to a site like soundcloud.com

    • This is a good way to have your own portfolio than can be accessed over the internet

    • Who knows, you might be discovered for projects soon!

    • In voice acting, you can put marks on your script, so you are guided on how to go about with specific lines

    • The following are the commonly used symbols:

      • Undersline - to mark words you need to emphasive

      • Slash - used to mark words where you're supposed to stop or pause

      • Comma - marks a pause in the script. ALso used to separate the words that are in the script

      • Arrow up or down - high or low voice tone / pitch

      • Circle - for word emphasis; or which words you are unsure of the pronunciation

    • Take a look at the scripts sent to you.

Acting Techniques

    • Using Facial Expressions and Gestures

      • There are different ways to express the line "Mahal Kita", depending on your expression

      • How will you say this in the most natural way?

      • Using facial expression can help you release the natural emotion required in expressing your lines

    • Your delivery will vary if you have a happy and a sad face. The same goes if you make a hugging gesture along with it.

    • Some aspiring voice artists sometimes just stare at the script in the dubbing booth while dubbing

    • Because of this, you can notice that the recording lacks emotions or depth of emotion

    • Use your body to make your voice acting more natural and believable, regardless of the kind of script you have

      • Movement

      • Orchestrates

      • Vocal

      • Expression

    • Lead-in Lines

      • Try to find where the character is coming from (hugot)

      • Who are you talking to?

      • How do you feel about this person?

      • Why are you talking to each other?

      • What problem do you need to solve in this conversation?

      • What lead-in line can you come up for this line?

        • "Tumigil ka, kung hindi masasampal na kita!"

Human Sound Effects

    • We have a REACTION to everything that we are saying

    • Ex. You can be chewing while saying your line if you are in the dining table

    • You need to use these "sound effects" to make your voice acting more believable

    • Some laugh if they see in the script that their character is laughing. They laugh, stop, and then deliver their lines. DO NOT BE LIKE THIS

    • You should be able to laugh while delivering the lines

    • Dubbing is more natural if done this way

    • Examples: laugh, cry, fell down, received a punch, surprise, burp, sigh
