Week 3

Week 3 Wrap-Up

07/12/20 15:54

And so Week 3 passed into Week 4, with all assignments finished, and ready for our last workshop day. All in all, we learned so much given the limited amount of time given. Our daily VO practices have been instrumental in getting our recording flow in proper order, as well as our oral delivery skills. It's even better if your source material is not just a script, but a whole VO work. In this case, you can improve your delivery and listening skills as you try oh-so-hard to deliver those simple lines with antagonizingly difficult inflections. I've done several takes but in the end, I just hear the same tone and pitch... even if I "hear" myself saying them differently. Apparently, that is not the case.

Another highlight of this week was this grand opportunity to do an actual voiceover recording for a really (really) big client. Thank you, Sir Choy, for this opportunity. The lessons learned have not only helped me step up, but gained me the realization that voiceover work is not work the shy, conscious, and weak-willed. You have to learn how to step out of your comfort zone, stand in the "spotlight", and learn to accept attention that leaves you wanting to do better next time. It is one thing to do recordings in the comfort of your own home, but an online session, working with the client, and trying to deliver results that they are looking for? Priceless.

Our CVAP training is not done yet, as we are now on the road to certification, and with that, more opportunities to improve our skills as well as join in on projects that will be helpful to everyone, one way or another. For now, I have been appointed by Sir Choy as CVAP 1's Batch Head, surprising as it may be. That puts my #sepanx on hold as it gives new direction to my level of participation in the CVAP workshop. Together with my team, Ms. Kate de Vera and Nay Lin, we hope to make our after-workshop experience an enjoyable and productive for all.

Kasi sana all diba?

To the CreatiVoices Team, who've put their time and effort into making this happen -- thank you for all your hard work.

To Sir Choy, our guide, mentor, friend, and colleague, the VoiceMaster of the Philippines -- thank you, thank you, thank you. Words are not enough for the time, energy, and trust that you've shared with us. Your experience and mastery have truly been well-received by CVAP Batch 1.

We look forward to making things happen with you!
